For this year's staff Christmas content on Instagram, we were inspired by Elizabeth Taylor's brilliance after becoming obsessed with Taylor Swift's song of the same name! Liz was the pinnacle of glamour and we know she loved Christmas, as evidenced by all the wonderfully festive images of her throughout the decades. So, we raided the rental collection, dolled ourselves up, and recreated some of these iconic images.
Starting off, we have Liz looking fresh faced as a teen during the 1940s. The first image sees her posing in front of snow covered bough.

Carolina is wearing a green 1940s day dress, red knit gloves and a sheer red neck scarf.

The next image has Liz posing with a kitten inside a Holly wreath.

We didn't have a similar green dress so we went with a silvery one with a similar cut and paired it with a fur collar. Cameo appearance from Carolina's vintage tiger!

Moving on to the 1950s, Liz poses with a Santa Claus in front of a screen in 1955:

Erin is wearing a ribbed knit cream skirt, red and white knit top and a patent red belt.

This wonderful image is from a 1956 Ambush perfume promotion:

We didn't have a gold dress similar to hers so we went with a silver-grey 50s one and commissioned Ian's vintage TV for the job!

Moving on to the 60s, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton are in Paris in December 1964 with the cutest little pooch. It looks like they're leaving a hotel perhaps?

You can't tell in this photo unfortunately but there is a paint palette brooch in my hair to match Liz's paint palette hair accessory! I am wearing a mixture of 60s and 70s pieces while Jim is wearing a 60s grey pinstripe suit.

Ten years later, the couple share a kiss in Switzerland in 1974. Admittedly, I think this photo was actually taken in February but with the wreath and red velvet cloak, it certainly looks festive!

The red velvet cape we had in the collection doesn't actually have a hood, so we added that on in Photoshop! Jim is wearing a 70s tux and cream turtleneck top.

As a side note, in another image from the same night, we can see Liz wearing the Taylor-Burton emerald-diamond BVLGARI suite which she also wore to accept her Oscar for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? In 1967. It sold at auction for $23 million in 2011, which funded the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
