Vintage 1960s Ceil Chapman Blue & Cream Silk Print Dress, Medium

This incredible vintage 60s Ceil Chapman dress is a little piece of American fashion history! It has a paisley-esque psychedelic pattern on blue and cream silk. It is a babydoll-style dress with an empire waist at the front, featuring a cute bow, but hangs free from the shoulders at the back. Gathering at the bust. It is sleeveless with a wide round neckline and metal back zipper to close. Snaps on the shoulders for securing straps. Fully lined.

Ceil Chapman was an American fashion designer who worked in New York City from the 1940s to the 1960s. She was known for creating glamourous cocktail dresses and for dressing celebrity clients and movie stars. She was reported to be Marilyn Monroe's favourite designer and provided Elizabeth Taylor's trousseau in 1950.
She was given the Coty American Fashion Critic's Award in 1945, for her creative contribution to the American fashion picture. She won many other awards throughout her career. 
Chapman was involved in the first clothing deal for credit on television with the 'Meet Betty Furness' show. 

Label style dates from the late 50s and early 60s.

CONDITION: This beauty does come with some issues. We hope we can find a good home for her.
Discolouration around the armpits.

Shipping Information

Our studio hours are Monday - Friday from 9am to 5pm EST. Our studio is closed on the weekends and therefore staff are not available for shipping orders on the weekends.

All purchases are shipped through either Canada Post, USPS or Asendia via ChitChats. If you have a FEDEX account, we would be glad to use that if you prefer, please email your FEDEX number to us at after your purchase. 

We make two weekly trips to the Chit Chats post office, usually on Monday and Friday afternoons. If you need your item shipped express, you may choose this option at checkout. If there are additional costs from what you are quoted at checkout, we will contact you before shipping and bill you via Paypal.

We use Chit Chats or Canada Post's/USPS' "Find a Rate" calculator to set our shipping profiles. Shipping upgrades are offered wherever possible. We will happily provide more exact shipping quotes and make adjustments with your address provided. We will combine orders upon request.
