Vintage 1980s/90s Harriet Selling Metallic Wrap Skirt, O/S
Vintage 1980s/90s Harriet Selling Metallic Wrap Skirt, O/S
This is a beautiful 80s or early 90s silk lame wrap skirt by German designer Harriet Selling. It is all one piece, designed to wrap over itself, there is no gap in a seam to feed the tie through. The front/side features an accordian pleated trumpet flare that bounces and flows with your movement. The fabric has glittering gold threads woven with black, creating a wavy textured stripe design. It's a very special piece!
Harriet Selling was born in Germany in 1956, and moved to Milan in 1979 after travelling there to do freelance work for different designers. She ended up designing sportswear for Fiorucci, and womenswear for Pacaldi, before starting her own namesake label in 1982. Her line was made in Italy, and she showed her runway collections at Milan Fashion Week. In 1992 she was invited to show at Paris Fashion week. She continued designing clothing into the early 2000s and is still designing today.
