We listed some pretty unique vintage 1980s bridal gowns this week. The label on these dresses is Florence Freda, though we couldn't find out any info about it. These gowns are pure ivory silk (soft and luxurious), embellished on the upper sleeves and busts with rosette appliqués edged with tubular beads nestled amongst a bed of iridescent sequins.
One dress features beaded circles in a gradient of pink, blue and clear flowing up the skirt to the bodice. We can see this being upcycled into something really special.
All three dresses have long sleeves and basque waists. There are bubble motifs on two of the dresses in unison with the circle beading on the first. Quintessentially 80s peplum bubble and tiered flounced skirts feature on these two dresses.
We can see 40s design elements coming through on these gowns, which gets our creative juices flowing as to the possibilities they hold. They would really make fantastic projects for someone who wanted to perhaps remove the sleeves and use those details to create an accessory. We know one person who makes gorgeous handbags out of embellished 80s bridal gown sleeves!
On the other hand, these would also be great dresses for an 80s character costume.
Either way, these gowns are well-made with quality materials and should not go to waste.
Who's up for a rewarding creative challenge? Let us know what you would do with these dresses if you could.

We also just listed some fab 80s/90s bridal headpieces, which you can find in the collection here.
We also have this more traditional sweetheart neckline gown with embellished bodice and hem trim:
We were reminded of the dress Rita Wilson wore for her wedding reception with Tom Hanks in 1988, and a white dress she wore to a movie premiere, which could itself have been a wedding dress. Skirt tiers, sweetheart necklines and bubble skirts galore!
