
A 1950s rayon button-up long-sleeved shirt from Penney's Towncraft in a brown plaid pattern. The sleeves have cuffs with a single button. A pointed collar with a button loop at the collar. 4 additional buttons at centre-front to fasten. Horizontal buttonholes. A patch breast pocket with rounded corners at bottom. Back yoke and pleats.

MEASUREMENTS (approximate, taken flat):
Chest: 42" (106.5cm)
Length from nape of neck: 24.5" (62cm)
Sleeve: 22" (56cm)
Neck: 15.5" (39.5cm)
CONDITION: Significant right sleeve underarm damage, which has been mended by a previous owner- visible interlining was attached and topstitches overlaid.
A hole above the cuff of the right sleeve.
Fabric 'pulled' next to left sleeve vent.
Slight discolouration throughout. Most noticeable at collar.
A blue thread has been used to serge the inside raw edge of the facing.
A hole at the top right corner of the breast pocket.
A hole has formed on the underside of the neck button.
Stitches loose beside the button loop, and the loop itself is slightly frayed.
Repair made to back of collar, underneath the turnover. A small hole in same area.
