80s/90s Harriet Selling Metallic Wrap Skirt, Large

80s/90s Harriet Selling Metallic Wrap Skirt, Large

This is a beautiful 80s or early 90s silk lame wrap skirt by German designer Harriet Selling. It is all one piece, designed to wrap over itself, there is no gap in a seam to feed the tie through. The front features an accordian pleated trumpet flare that bounces and flows with your movement. The fabric has glittering gold threads woven with black, creating a wavy textured stripe design. It's a very special piece!

Harriet Selling was born in Germany in 1956, and moved to Milan in 1979 after travelling there to do freelance work for different designers. She ended up designing sportswear for Fiorucci, and women's wear for Pacaldi, before starting her own namesake label in 1982. Her line was made in Italy, and she showed her runway collections at Milan Fashion Week. In 1992 she was invited to show at Paris Fashion week. She continued designing clothing into the early 2000s and is still designing today.

✂--- Allow for some ease.:

This is a very adjustable wrap skirt that does not have any side seaming or place to feed the tie through, it fully wraps over itself above the "waist". The measurements are taken with the skirt folded to the widest measurement where the trumpet flare hangs in front, and from there it can be tied to fit smaller waist sizes.
